{"id":896,"date":"2024-06-25T11:45:28","date_gmt":"2024-06-25T11:45:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomat.ie\/?p=896"},"modified":"2024-06-25T13:10:27","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T13:10:27","slug":"insolvency-service-of-ireland-isi-publishes-2023-annual-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomat.ie\/index.php\/2024\/06\/25\/insolvency-service-of-ireland-isi-publishes-2023-annual-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Insolvency Service of Ireland (ISI) publishes 2023 Annual Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Director of the ISI, Michael McNaughton, has published the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/pdf\/?file=https:\/\/assets.gov.ie\/296655\/0f46e10b-2f9f-437c-a9cc-8ab690d5f106.pdf#page=null\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/pdf\/?file%3Dhttps:\/\/assets.gov.ie\/296655\/0f46e10b-2f9f-437c-a9cc-8ab690d5f106.pdf%23page%3Dnull&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1719389387735000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0QYGeEmRdDgnC3IgsQ0qwi\">ISI Annual Report 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Highlights of the 2023 Annual Report include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0launch of a refreshed and updated awareness campaign with the message \u201cDon\u2019t let debt unravel you.\u201d<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0implementation of a new Bankruptcy Case Management System.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,625 Abhaile vouchers issued for a free PIP consultation.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The representative sample from the Abhaile Deep Dive exercise in 2023 shows that, of those borrowers who availed of a PIA, 96% had terms which saw them remain in their family home while 42% of debtors had a reduction in their mortgage debt through a write-down.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,325 Protective Certificates issued, 90% of which were for Personal Insolvency Arrangements, the solution that deals with mortgage debt.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,001 debt solutions were put in place.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">72 people were adjudicated bankrupt, with 99 people exiting bankruptcy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commenting on the Annual Report Mr McNaughton said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLast year was another difficult year for households and individuals who had to cope with significantly elevated cost of living levels. Although the rate of inflation eased somewhat over the course of the year, interest rates continued to rise with the ECB interest rate on main refinancing operations peaking at 4.5 per cent in August 2023. Against this backdrop, the ISI saw an increase in demand for its services with applications for insolvency solutions, other than bankruptcy, increasing by 20 per cent compared to the previous year.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr McNaughton noted that over the 10 years since it was established, over 14,000 people have used the solutions available through the ISI to return to solvency.
