Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo presented their Letters of Credence to President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
His Excellency, Mr. Ricardo Hernández Menendez, Ambassador of Chile was accompanied by Mr. Daniel Mora Muñoz, Deputy Head of Mission.
His Excellency Mr. Enkhsukh Battumur, Ambassador of Mongolia was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Ganchimeg Purevdorj, his daughter Ms. Enkhbilguun Enkhsukh, his son Mr. Itgel Enkhsukh and Ms Munkhjargal Nergui, First Secretary.
His Excellency, Mr. Ilir Kapiti, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Eranda Kapiti and Ms. Liridona Hertica, Second Secretary.
Mr. Joe O’Brien TD, Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Department of Social Protection with special responsibility for Community Development and Charities; and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth with special responsibility for Integration, represented the Government at the ceremony.
The following were also present: Ms. Orla O’Hanrahan, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Ruairí de Búrca, Assistant Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Paul Kavanagh, Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs; Col. Stephen Howard, Comdt. Brian Walsh, Comdt. Deirdre Newel and Captain Pol O’Donnell. Aides-de-Camp to the President; Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms. Marylee Wall, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Maurice Harnett.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 28th Infantry Battalion, Finner Camp, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal under the command of Lieutenant Brian Dunne.
Lieutenant Chris Mulligan from the 28th Infantry Battalion was the flag officer.
Captain Tom Kelly conducted the Band of 2 Brigade which is based in Custume Barracks, Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
