His Excellency, Mr. Jonas Grinevičius, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, and His Excellency, Mr. Do Minh Hung, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam presented their Letters of Credence to President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
His Excellency, Mr. Jonas Grinevičius, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Eglè Grinevičienè, his daughters Goda and Aistè Grinevičiūtė and Ms. Renata Rinkauskienė, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania.
His Excellency, Mr. Do Minh Hung was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Dang Tu Anh, his daughter Ms. Do Tu Minh, his son Mr. Do Thai Duc Minh and Mr. Nong Dam Tuan Linh, First Secretary at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Mr. Joe O’Brien T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Community Development, Integration and Charities, with special responsibility for Community Development and Charities, and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, with special responsibility for Integration, represented the Government at the ceremony.
The following were also present: Ms. Orla Hanrahan, Secretary General to the President; Ms Maeve Von Heynitz, Director General, European Union Division, Department of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Eamonn McKee, Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs; Col. Stephen Howard, Comdt. Brian Walsh, Comdt. Deirdre Newell and Capt. Pol O’Donnell, Aides-de-Camp to the President; and Mr. Joe Brennan, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Clare Murphy.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 1 Mechanised Infantry Company, Defence Forces Training Centre, Co. Kildare, under the command of Lieutenant Michael Hickey.
Lieutenant Adam Doyle from the 1 Mechanised Infantry Company, Defence Forces Training Centre, Co. Kildare was the flag officer.
Captain Tom Kelly conducted the No. 1 Army Band, which is based in Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.
